Oh The Places She Can Go
Updated: Mar 31, 2019
Hazel doesn't get around much anymore. She is no longer able to drive. Her eyesight is not up to par and she doesn't handle the steering wheel very well. So she has to rely on someone else to get her around town. Many jurisdictions have a bus for seniors for a very low cost or for free. These senior bus services often require a day or two notice for scheduling. They can get your relatively independent senior to doctor appointments, grocery shopping and to the local senior center. Many of the senior centers have classes and day trips. Hazel loved the day trips to the casino. Having social trips including visiting nearby friends, card playing activities, plays, art class and afternoon tea is sometimes just what your senior may need. Talk to a local cab company about vouchers for seniors or if your senior has a smartphone, download the app for Uber or Lyft. Once they get the feel for using these modes of transportation, they will always be on the go.
